30+ websites relaunched to create online town centres

APN Australian Regional Media (APN ARM) has relaunched its network of more than 30 news websites. With a distinct emphasis on local, relevant news and information as well as a design that encourages the local community to contribute, the new websites are very much like online town centres.

“Our audience told us they were looking for a single source of local information for their communities. Finding out what is happening at a local level, especially online, was very difficult,” said APN ARM Director of Products and Digital Media, Clayton Cooke.

“Building on the credibility of our print mastheads and our longstanding position within the community, we had the perfect opportunity to create a digital offering to meet those needs.”

The websites now combine the best in local news as well as local life, events and businesses. They are intuitive to navigate and users can place notices, add events, share photos, and comment throughout the site.

Advertisers will benefit from the new design too, as they will have the opportunity to integrate their brands across key content and verticals, engaging pre-roll video ads and high impact advertising solutions, in addition to display media.

APN ARM CEO Warren Bright said the re-launch of the websites was one of many initiatives as the business strengthened its digital future.

“Our newspapers brands have played an integral role in regional communities for more than 150 years and will continue well into the future. We are evolving our products and the way we do business to flourish in a digital era,” Mr Bright said.

“Our vision is to be an essential part of people’s daily lives. The re-launch of our websites with the focus on providing valuable local information and services to consumers and advertisers is another step towards achieving that goal.”
