Regional Audiences Shine

Local regional audiences show continued strength with the release of the latest readership data.

New readership figures released this week show regional news media brands are alive and thriving. Australia Regional Media’s (ARM) multi-platform content offering is allowing more readers to engage when, where and how they want:

  • ARM delivered 4 of the 5 fastest growing daily newspapers in Australia. The Sunshine Coast Daily, in particular has outperformed the market, with total audience continuing to grow month on month;
  • ARM has the top 3 growing Mon-Fri titles in the country (The Chronicle, The Sunshine Coast Daily and The Northern Star); and
  • ARM has the top 3 growing Saturday titles in the country (The Chronicle, The Sunshine Coast Daily and The Weekend Star).

ARM CEO Neil Monaghan said, “The latest readership figures continue to highlight that ARM’s news media brands have a loyal local audience. This local to local connection stems from our relentless focus on connecting and enriching the local communities we serve.”

Figures indicate 70% of readers agree that local newspapers are their main source of information about what is going on in their local community.

Brands genuinely want a one-to-one connection with audiences and local regional news media can provide local relevance to these national brands
